Dreamed of since 1987. Started in earnest in 2006. Formally registered in 2008. The Lightning Fast® Foundation is a Registered Company (UK Company Number: 6612590) and is a registered Charity in the UK - Registration 1128573!

The Foundation has an independent* board of Directors who oversee the appropriation of funds and the application of those funds to projects that meet the Objectives stated by the Foundation. These Directors are: Julian Strauss, Rich Davis and Mish Constant.

We are audited by Independent Examiners (see http://www.independentexaminers.co.uk/) annually. Please contact us for any questions, comments and concerns - we're happy to help and answer any questions

* Note: The two Founders of the Foundation (Steve Savides and Will Shepherd) have stepped down as Directors. None of the Directors recieve any financial remuneration from the Lightning Fast Foundation. The Foundation seeks to pass almost 100% of funds raised DIRECTLY to our communities, which are all registered charities. We seek to fund administration and general expense from other sources, so any funds used would be for auditing, book-keeping, and expenses incurred - but which are kept to a minimum (in fact, we like it when people donate resources - such as the maintainance of the web-site, pro-bono). As at the end of 2008 all expenses have been covered from outside of the Foundation. We have no paid staff at this stage - its all volunteers!! - although we may seek to employ a fund-raiser and/or an admin in 2009.

We are actively pursuing recruitment plans for further independent trustees and as soon as this takes place Mr. Savides will step-down from the LFF. The 12-18 month objective is to have 5-8 trustees of differing genders and age-groups, from various countries, cultures and walks of life to fully represent the needs of the global village we are trying to support.
